Detox is a short-term weight-loss plan that is used to
cleanse the body contaminants and toxins. You will need to follow a strict
healthy habits like drinking a lot of water, eating more fruits and vegetables
and avoid consuming junk foods, fatty foods and sweets. A lot of people do a
detox after holiday binge eating and before heading to summer vacation.
There are detox diets that are low-calorie low-nutrients
that may cause nausea, headache, fatigue, low energy, low blood sugar level,
muscle cramps, dizziness, and lightheaded. There are also detox diets that lets
you consume more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and lean protein. Some cleanse diets include juicing and
drinking certain liquids.
Colon cleansing - also called colonic irrigation or colonic
hydrotherapy is usually performed before a medical procedure like colonoscopy.
This practice has been around since ancient times and its purpose is to expel
the digestive waste that can be a toxin in the body. It is also believed that
toxins in the gastrointestinal tract can cause several health problems like
arthritis and high blood pressure. By removing those toxins you’ll improve your
overall health, increasing your energy level and enhancing your immune system. Common
side effects of colon cleansing include dehydration, perforation or rectum
tear, electrolyte imbalance, cramping, bloating, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
A study published by the Techniques in Coloproctology done in 2016 concluded that colonic irrigation in patients is safe and can
improve abdominal pain, constipation, and diarrhea.
You can choose two ways to perform colon cleansing, it’s
either orally using powdered or liquid supplements or visiting a colonic
hygienists or colon hydrotherapists to perform colon irrigation.
Colon cleansing
supplements if you choose the oral method includes enemas, laxatives (stimulant
and non-stimulant), herbal teas, enzymes, and magnesium. While in the colon
irrigation method, a small tube will be inserted in your rectum and a low
pressure pump will flush the toxins with water.
Kidney Cleanse - is
a process of cleaning your kidney of toxin, it involves consuming specific
foods, drinks or supplements to aid the removal of toxins. Kidneys perform
essential functions to keep your body healthy. The bean-shaped organs maintain
your body's overall fluid balance, it regulates and filters minerals from
blood, and filters waste
materials from food, medications, and toxic substances. Most of us can maintain
our kidneys healthy by staying hydrated and eating a balanced, healthy diet.
Kidneys detox - are said to improve your blood pressure,
cleans the urinary tract and bladder, boost immunity, and clear toxins from the
entire body. A kidney detox may feature cranberry extract, dandelion tea,
marshmallow root, juniper, nettles, parsley, red clover, ginger, goldenrod,
beet juice, watermelon, lemon juice, pumpkin seeds, ginger, turmeric, Vitamin
B2, Vitamin B6 and Magnesium.
A kidney cleanse will usually combine these herbs,
vitamins, and minerals into a whole-foods-based diet designed to flush out the
kidneys.
Liver cleanse – the liver’s function is to help remove
waste products in the body and processes various nutrients and medicines. A
liver cleanse is a program in which you may have to perform fasting or drink
only liquids for several days. You may also take herbal or supplements. One of
the most known supplements to clean the liver is Milk Thistle, the gold
standard for liver detox. It is said that milk thistle makes your liver work
better and can help treat liver disease. There is some proof that compounds
from milk thistle have helped to improve the symptoms of certain types of liver

Detox programs seems to a tall order specially if you
think you need to do it for the long term. Don’t worry they are only meant to
be a short-term solution to kick-start your long term lifestyle change.
